As we continue to grow older, there’s no doubt that the skin will be susceptible to aging and this is why it is so important to invest in skincare to avoid looking older than you actually are. So here are 5 important skincare tips if you’re in your late 30’s and 40’s that will help you a lot with anti- aging.
Note that I am not a dermatologist but these tips are only based off proper research, so it is still advisable to first check in with your dermatologist before going ahead.
TIP #1: RICE PROTEIN TONERS
As you begin to hit your late 30’s and 40’s, your skins collagen and protein level will begin to decrease this is why rice protein toners are a must. This is because the protein ingredient in the rice toners will help stimulate the collagen layer of your skin to synthesize and to build the extra protein that your skin needs to stay bouncy and youthful. It also has skin brightening properties that helps reduce the appearance of age spots and hyperpigmentation.
There are a lot of other benefits associated with using rice protein toners such as: Improved skin textures and they can help shield skin against environmental effects e.g pollution, UV radiation, smoke, but they cannot fully replace the work of a sunscreen.
TIP #2: RETINOLS
Retinol inclusion in your skincare routine is a whole game changer. These are one of the most effective ant-aging ingredients. They have many benefits such as
· Stimulating collagen production: It is important to invest in products that help boost collagen production as you age and which retinol is one of the products. Do well to check with your dermatologist to determine the best retinol skincare product for your skin type.
· Reduces fine lines and wrinkles: Appearance of wrinkles on the skin as aging continues is only normal. This is why you should include retinol in your skincare early as they help to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines
· Unclog pores and reduce acne: Another work of retinol is to prevent clogging of pores therefore reducing acne and blackheads.
Listed above are just a few benefits of retinols in skincare amongst others. But there are important things to know when starting off with retinols in your skincare.
1) It is best to use retinols at night, as they are very sensitive to the sun.
2) Always wear your sunscreen daily, especially now that you’ve included retinol in your skincare.
3) Always start with a lower concentration when starting off (advisably a pea-sized amount).
4) It’s best to start off using 2 times a week then gradually increase your usage as needed.
5) Be patient and consistent as retinols can take to show results.
TIP #3: ESSENCE WITH FERMENTED SOYBEAN EXTRACT
The proteins and amino acid contained in soybean extract helps with anti-aging by providing firmness to the skin and improve the skin elasticity, As aging sets in, you need to include into your skincare an essence that contains fermented soybeans to give that firmness your skin needs and stimulate the collagen production.

It is a skincare facial treatment usually done with a patented device to provide deep cleansing, hydration and nourishment to the skin.
· DEEP CLEANSING & EXFOLIATION: HydraFacial helps remove dead skin cells from the skin surface.
· EXTRACTION: During this step, a suction tool is used to unclog pores and reduce congestion.

TIP #5: SUNSCREEN
I know this is a general tip that is already well known but I’m including this again because this is a key step in any skincare routine and also helps with anti-aging. Every day out in the sun exposes the skin to the skin UV rays that can lead to skin cancer, discoloration, wrinkles, and it is estimated that 80% of the skin’s aging comes from the sun. The way sunscreen works is by providing a chemical barrier that absorbs or reflects UV radiation before it can damage the skin.
There are two UV rays the skin is exposed to under the sun:
· UVA : This is the one responsible for aging
· UVB : This UV ray is responsible for the burning, it plays the most significant role in producing skin cancers and sunburns.
Experts recommend, when choosing a proper sunscreen for daily use, to select SPFs between 30 and 50 (SPF 30-SPF 50).
Tips to remember when using a sunscreen
1) It is recommended to use at least ½ a teaspoon of sunscreen for your face.
2 Always apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes prior to sun exposure.
3) Ensure to re-apply sunscreen twice daily.
