PREPARING FOR THE HOT OIL TREATMENT

There are just 2 simple steps to prepare your hot oil treatment for use

STEP 1

Select the oil you’d like to use for this treatment, it can be a single oil or a mixture of more than one mixture. If you’d like a recommendation of 5 of my best hair oil, you can check that out here:

STEP 2

For this step, there are two ways you can heat up the oil

-MICROWAVE: This first method is quite simple. Put in the oil of your choice in the microwave to heat up. For this you’d have to heat the oil for the first (10-15 seconds), checking the temperature and repeat until the oil is warm, not hot

-DOUBLE BOILER: Or you could go in with the second method which is the double boiler method. Here, you’d place the oil in a bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally until warm (this could sit for as long as 3 minutes or more).

APPLICATION PROCESS

1)      First you need to section your hair into manageable parts (this could be as much as 4-6 sections or more, depending on how much you’d like your hair to be sectioned).

2)      Pour an amount of the warm oil on your palm and apply it to each section working from roots down to you’re the ends. Making sure your hair is properly coated in this oil.

3)      Massage this warm oil into hair, focusing on the scalp and ends.

4)      Cover hair with a plastic cap or a deep conditioning cap to entrap the heat.

5)      Leave the treatment to sit on hair at least an hour or overnight (whichever you prefer) just to let the treatment really do its work on your hair.

AFTERCARE

RINSE OFF AND SHAMPOO

Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water

Then go in with a shampoo and wash off the oil

Follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.

HOW OFTEN TO REPEAT TREATMENT?

It is often advised that it’s best to repeat this treatment every 1-2 weeks, depending on hair’s need and growth.

CONCLUSION

Hot oil treatments are kind of like a diy to help promote hair growth and maintaining hair health. They are simple yet versatile and that it is the more reason you should give this treatment a go and see how this works for your hair and also be sure to be consistent and use as needed.
