DIY hair mask, otherwise known as “do-it-yourself” hair masks are one of the easiest, affordable and also trusted method to fight off hair issues and enhancing hair growth. DIY hair masks relieves the stress of looking for recommended or chemically-made solutions, and even better, the materials required are home-available and affordable materials.                                                 

Below are 5 recommended Hair mask you can try out


HAIR MASK 1 [Coconut oil hair mask]

     This hair mask helps in softening and moisturizing hair.

Materials required

·       Coconut oil

·       Melted Shea butter

·       Leave-in conditioner

·       Honey

How to use

1.    Mix in equal volume of coconut oil and leave-in conditioner

2.    Then pour in an overdose of melted Shea butter and honey

3.    Apply thoroughly on hair from the scalp to the tips of your hair

4.    Cover hair with a plastic bag for 30 minutes

5.    Rinse and wash off with conditioner

HAIR MASK 2 [Castor oil hair mask]

This hair mask prepares hair cells for rapid growth

Materials required

·       Black Jamaican castor oil

·       Aloe Vera

·       Vitamin E capsule

How to use

1.    Take an Aloe Vera leaf, and extract the Aloe juice in it

2.    Pour the Aloe in a bowl and mix with 5-6 spoonful of Black Jamaican castor oil

3.    Open up 3-4 capsules of vitamin E capsules and empty into the mixture

4.    Apply generously to the scalp, roots inclusive

5.    Cover hair with a plastic bag for 30 minutes to an hour

6.    Wash off properly and go in with your normal washing process

NOTE:  Make sure to go in with this mask before you put on your protective style, results would be visible in 2-3 week time.

 HAIR MASK 3 [Peppermint hair mask]

      This hair mask helps to fight off dandruff

 Materials Required

·       Olive oil

·       Peppermint oil

·       Aloe Vera juice

                  How to use

1.    Make a mixture of 5-6 spoons of olive oil and Aloe Vera juice

2.    Add about 3-4 droplets of peppermint oil

3.    Apply mixture properly, concentrating majorly on the scalp

4.    Leave mixture on, for 15-30 minutes

5.    Wash off with shampoo and conditioner and then air dry

                 NOTE:  Continue with DIY for a week for visible results

HAIR MASK 4 [Rejuvenation hair mask]

            Materials required

·       Over-ripe banana(s)

·       Honey

·       Coconut oil

·       Shea butter

·       Avocado

How to use

1.    Peel the over-ripe banana(s) into a bowl

2.    Cut open the avocado and empty its content (without the seed) into the bowl

3.    Mash the two properly to form a paste

4.    Then add honey, Shea butter, coconut oil and mix properly

5.    Apply to both scalp and hair strands

6.    Cover hair with a plastic bag and leave overnight or for 3 hours

7.    Wash off with shampoo and conditioner

NOTE:   Make sure to continue with this hair mask at least 2x in 6 months for visible results.

HAIR MASK 5 [Aloe Vera hair mask]

     This hair mask helps to treat the scalp

Materials required

·       Aloe Vera juice

·       Any essential oil of your choice

How to use

1.    Put in 5 spoons of the essential oil of your choice into a bowl

2.    Then add in Aloe Vera juice and mix,

3.    Apply thoroughly to the scalp, roots and tips

4.    Massage in for 5 minutes

5.    Cover hair with a plastic bag for 45 minutes

6.    Rinse off and go in with your shampoo and conditioner

NOTE:  Advisable to include this hair masks in your hair care routine.
